I write mostly poetry, but also short stories and novels and I'm
learning cynghanedd.
I’ve been published in The Yellow Crane, New Welsh Review,
Quench magazine, the BBC Streets of Cardiff project, Poetry Wales
and in the Peter Finch edited collection The Big Book of Cardiff.
Here is a mini extract from a novel I’m writing:
Rowena flips the cards over one by one, not looking the faces, but
at the backs; gaudy pictures of Welsh beauty spots.
St Govans chapel: pride comes before a fall.
Bedd Gelert: trickery is afoot.
She was concerned; this reading was not going well.
Devil’s Bridge: lies and deceit.
She asked who would be deceived, then turned a card at random.
Joker.
Rowena sighed, this was beginning to look familiar. Okay then, who
was going to be doing the deceiving? She flipped the next card.
Caswell Bay? She turned it around to see what the value of the playing
card was: The red-headed Queen of Rubies.
Rowena smiled.
